Chuchel (2018) is a comedy adventure game. You play hairy hero Chuchel and his rival Kekel to solve simple puzzles and challenges in their quest to retrieve the precious cherry. It looks like a children's storybook animation with strange, peculiar creatures.
Play involves using the touch screen or mouse to interact with each scene. Although at first it seems like nothing more than an interactive toy, you soon start to discover a story and characters with evolving personalities.
It's comedic and a bizarre Monty Python kind of way. You might be faced with a tree too tall to reach its fruit. You choose whether to climb or shake the tree. Getting to the fruit you realise you can't pull it off. By continuing to tap, you end up pulling the tree over. Many of these one-screen puzzles draw on classic video games, but then subvert the play -- a lot like Warioware games.
Characters chase each other, get squished and shout. But the dark humour is accompanied by funny sounds and cartoon visuals so it's never overly scary. With hundreds of whimsical animations and stages there's plenty to do for younger players.
