Play OverviewPlay Overview

Degrees of Separation (2019) is a running and jumping game where you control two characters from different seasons, Ember and Rime. Each has different abilities to change the environment and help you to progress: freezing water, melting ice and the like.

They are animated like cardboard cutouts from a storybook and the tale of cooperation, love and fate extends this aesthetic. Although this is more suited to younger players the intriguing back and forth of winter and summer to progress is enjoyable for all.

You can play this alone, pressing a button to switch characters, but it's much more fun to play with someone else. You each control one of the characters and their related season. Communication is key to solving puzzles and progressing.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Degrees of Separation 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 10 months ago.
