Play OverviewPlay Overview

Dungeon and Puzzles (2021) is a puzzle adventure game where you move through rooms, using your limited number of turns to defeat the monsters, unlock doors and (hopefully) escape. In a novel twist on the format, the monsters don't attack, they merely block your way. Also, you can't control how far you move, only stopping when your path is blocked. This leans into the thinky puzzle challenge so that you require planning and forethought to use the monsters to position yourself so you can escape.

You start each room with no items and can move in one of the four cardinal directions, only stopping when you collide with a wall or monster. This counts as one turn. You can then choose to move in another direction, perhaps to pick up a piece of equipment, or you can choose to use any equipment you possess to kill or move any of the monsters, clearing your way. You also need to look out for traps that could spell the end of your attempt.

The door unlocks once you've defeated all the monsters. However, if you are in the wrong position, it may be impossible to get to the door; for example, you may have needed to use a monster you killed to align yourself with the door before you killed it. This adds a layer of strategy to the usual dungeon exploration, as you need to ensure you do everything in the correct order.

If you complete a level in the minimum number of moves you get a golden crown. Rather than the common procedurally generated levels, these are handcrafted unique puzzles. As you progress you find new items and objects you can use to your advantage.

The game offers a unique blend of puzzle and turn-based combat games that makes you craft deep strategies and think before you act, all along with a unique retro art style and a charming soundtrack.
