Play Overview
Eco (2018) extends the resource-collecting and building of Minecraft by introducing environmental implications to your actions. Using resources like trees will erode the soil; mining might pollute the river; and each animal depends on another.
In the game, the world is faced with an impending meteor impact. You have to research technology to destroy the meteor before it strikes without harming the game world too much by resource exploitation or pollution while caring for the land, sea and Skylanders ecosystems..
The world of the game is similar to Earth. It is a small planet consisting of dirt, stone, and several other underground resources. It also features different biomes like forests, plains, and rivers, as well as several kinds of plants to harvest and animals to hunt. The twist is that this is a multiplayer game. So rather than compete with others for resources, or to build the most impressive structure, as you do in games like Minecraft, you have to work together to save the planet.
This forces players towards a collaborative approach to the game. You must balance nutrition, gathering resources and avoid harming the environment. Cut down too many trees and you'll have air pollution. Pollute with too much technology and the sea levels will rise.
