Five Dates (2020) is an adventure game about finding a partner. You play Vinny, a millennial from London, and join a dating app for the first time during the coronavirus pandemic. The game offers five potential female matches that you must pluck up courage to video date.
The game is played out with short videos that are different depending on your choices and interactions with each date. It offers well acted characters drawing on talent from TV and film with Mandip Gill (Doctor Who) and Georgia Hirst (Vikings). Amidst a branching, multi-directional chain of conversation topics and deep-dive questions, Vinny is faced with digital game dates, awkward scenarios and unexpected truths.
What starts off as something a but unusual and potentially embarrassing, soon develops into an exploration of the unpredictable world of romance. It's the story of an average single man as he navigates the world of digital dating. Through his journey, the decisions the viewer makes for him will challenge their own conceptions of attraction and compatibility.
