Play OverviewPlay Overview

Monster Train (2020) is a turn-based fighting game played on a train to hell. Through a series of rounds, you collect cards which summon monsters or special moves to stop enemy armies from getting to and destroying your pyre. Because the pyre is at the top of the train, and you can only place your defences on the levels below, it offers an unusual combination of card selection and geographical strategy.

You collect cards (which require energy to use) as you play, helping you progress through the ever-harder levels. There are five different decks to collect, of which you use two per fight. Each deck has unique strengths and abilities which can help you in different scenarios.

You choose the route of the train which determines which levels you play. Each level offers a different challenge and a variety of cards to collect. These not only grant you new monsters but unique upgrades to your team.

Our examiner, Ben Kendall, first checked Monster Train 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 14 months ago.
