Play Overview
Morkredd (2020) is a puzzle game about light and shadow, where two characters work together to push a glowing orb of light in a pitch-black world, avoiding stepping into shadow - even each other's shadows - which results in their death.
This Norwegian game has a title that means "afraid of the dark". The core of the game is helping each other stay alive while feeling small in a dark oppressive world - not only do you cooperate to solve puzzles, you must also show consideration towards your partner since they could easily be killed by your shadow.
It's a game that plays with the idea of darkness. "Usually it's not the darkness itself that scares us, but whatever could be hidden there. Without being able to actually see anything our mind is able to roam free and conjure up some truly crazy stuff. Mørkredd is not a horror game, but we did want to get players to be a little scared about what they will find in the darkness of the game."
It's an interesting game for parents and children, not only because you work together, but because it offers an unusual way to think about the things that scare us in the dark.
Our examiner, Goran Wallgren, first checked Morkredd 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 7 months ago.
