Mudrunner (2017) is an off-roading simulation where you drive ageing Soviet vehicles in extreme, muddy and unpaved environments. It's novel because of the simulated driving and that you just have a map and a compass to navigate.
You take on various contracts to transport logs to their destination while minimising your use of fuel and avoiding damaging your vehicle. It's a realistic challenge without the usual assistance that other games offer. This makes it intentionally difficult but all the more rewarding when you finally get to your destination in one piece.
Along with the open-world missions, Mud Runner offers a challenge mode with nine smaller maps that each introduce specific gameplay functions. Each of these levels also has three bonus objectives that can be completed for additional achievements.
