Play OverviewPlay Overview

Not Tonight (2018) is a tongue-in-cheek role-play adventure where you challenge the political establishment in alternative versions of Post-Brexit Britain (in the first game) or capitalism-run-rampant America (in the sequel). You take on a time pressured paper-checking tasks made famous by Paper, Please, to help characters you meet and deal with politically charged scenarios.

Not Tonight involves you trying to stay out of trouble in a broken Britain, where an extreme far-right government has taken power. Citizens of European heritage have been rounded up and exiled. You're forced into taking jobs as part of the gig economy, fighting to scrape by and return to the city you call home.

Not Tonight 2 involves you racing to cross a broken America so you can retrieve your identifying documents and stay out of trouble. It's a world where capitalism and political greed have taken centre stage, your friend has gone missing. Snatched during a protest, Eduardo Suarez has been seized by the authorities, and now sits ready for processing in the Miami gulag.

Play involves exploring the world and taking on document-checking tasks. You take jobs to work the doors of clubs, churches, race tracks, casinos, and cults. In these roles you are increasingly pressured to process these decisions quickly as you earn money by checking Ids, while completing a variety of silly, poignant mini-games: rhythm challenges, word association, serving burgers, assessing religion and checking chickens.

The result is a first hand experience of the discrimination and injustice of a broken nation state. The branching stories are written by people from the diverse backgrounds of the characters you play and encounter. It's a fusion of time-pressure role-play and a politically charged story where every decision matters. Will you join the resistance and fight the regime? Or keep your head down and hope that one day this will all be a distant memory?
