Play OverviewPlay Overview

Scavengers (2021) is a strategy survival game with an emphasis on team work and shooting. Squads of three compete to survive in open worlds with harsh environments, computer enemies and periodic missions. Different characters must use their unique abilities and weapons to conquer the the hostile wasteland and outthink (or outfight) enemy players.

You play a civilisation broken by a deadly virus, seeking refuge off-planet. You take on missions from your AI protector, Mother, who watches over those of us who remain. Humanity wants a cure for the virus. She wants something more and will send you to the surface to fight - for one another, against each other, and for the future of our species.

Unlike other competitive shooting games, Scavengers offers more strategic avenues. You can track enemy players through snow, pit intelligent wildlife against your advantage, use storms and shelters to your advantage, stealthily navigate outposts, or take on the world guns blazing.

The game world is also more varied. You must manage cold and hunger as well as watching out for the deadly marauder creatures. You must carefully read and navigate the terrain, scavenge resources, and use your skills in combat to survive.

As you progress, whether clearing Outlander encampments or facing the threat of other squads, you learn to master weapons and abilities. Between each match you can unlock and upgrade blueprints that enable crafting of better weapons.

The game is made by some of the Halo team and has ongoing progression as it introduces seasonal objectives, modes, characters, enemies, map locations, and more. It's out in Beta on PC and coming to Xbox and PlayStation 4 later.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Scavengers 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 17 months ago.
