Play Overview
Song of Iron (2021) is a Norse fighting game where you explore an ancient, and mysterious homeland. Through forests, into caves and over mountains you seek vengeance. It's an unusual combination of side-on action and beautifully rendered visuals. You must keep your wits about you as danger is all around. Fighting isn't always the best option.
As you set out there is a trail of broken helmets, shields and swords. With just an axe from a fallen foe, you trudge forward, worn and dented. To save your people you must find the Great Temple of the Gods, but do not expect a warm welcome.
As you progress you are met by a world set against you. Men, monsters and even nature itself tries to stop your advance. But as you advance, you hone your combat and use of bow, axe and shield to fight back. You need to take care of your weapons and use them wisely. Arrows will run out and shields will be broken.
The result is a game that draws on historic grand side-scrolling adventures like Shadow of the Beast and Limbo. But Song of Iron's deep gameplay and evocative locales makes it an exuberant adventure all its own.
