Play OverviewPlay Overview

Stranded Deep (2015) is a survival game set in the Pacific Ocean. Taking a cue from films like Cast Away, you survive a plane crash and face life-threatening scenarios in a large open world. As the weather and time of day changes with the hours, you explore the Pacific islands, reefs and oceans for the resources to survive.

As you gain more materials you can settle on an island and build a shelter and raft to explore the ocean. You harvest resources and combine them to invent equipment. These resources and your ability to carry them are very limited, so need to be managed and prioritized.

You also need to look after your general health, hunger, thirst, and sleep. The different elements and weather you face will affect this. Thirst is particularly important, and hydration sources are scarce so you need to learn the skills to craft water collectors. Hunger is also important, so you must catch fish and hunt.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Stranded Deep 3 years ago. It was re-examined by Ben Kendall and updated 8 months ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 16+ for sustained depictions of violence. The player uses local materials to make tools and weapons, such as knives, axes, harpoons and bows and arrows, which are used to hunt animals for food. Most of the violence is non-realistic in nature. However, when a wild boar is killed using a bow and arrow, it squeals when struck and there are some blood effects. When it falls to the ground, after numerous hits, it continues to squeal and shakes its legs before dying.

Rated for younger players in the US. ESRB TEEN for Blood, Crude Humor, Mild Violence.

Skill Level

12+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content.
