Play Overview
Sunless Sea (2015) is a sea-faring adventure where you pilot a small steamship to explore a Victorian-era London that has been moved beneath the earth's surface. You take on the role of captain but select different ambitions that determine how you will play.
Will you try and become Fallen London's most celebrated explorer, amass enough wealth to retire, or simply find the biggest monsters to battle? As you explore in your small ship you light your way with the beam of your lantern. You must collect and manage resources to help you battle ships and sea monsters as you go.
Each time you set out the map is generated for fresh adventures, but if you sink to your death you will have to start again. Subsequent attempts then inherit some of your previous attempt's possessions.
Along with the steamship piloting, you also make choices about how the story progresses. The world you explore has multiple islands, each with its own story quests. Each challenge requires that you gain special items on the island and then go to defeat sea beasts.
