Play OverviewPlay Overview

The Legend of Tianding (2021) is a running, jumping and fighting game where you play a fugitive vigilante in Taipei city. It stands out for its unusual cultural setting, comic book storytelling and fast combat action. Based on real events, real people and real situations, The Legend of Tianding is an exploration of a place and time often overlooked.

Play involves helping the villages of Taipai fight against the ruthless police. You rob the rich, feed the poor, and fight for justice in the streets of early 20th century Taipei as Taiwan’s legendary outlaw.

The game takes it time with the setting and story telling as you explore each area. This sandwiches the meat of the action: battling the colonial authorities with fast paced Kung Fu in tightly tuned technical combat. From the side-on view you run and jump your way through the world, taking on enemies with a wide range of moves. Perform aerial combos, steal weapons from your enemies, use your waist sash and grappling hook to fly around the battlefield, and strike fear into the hearts of your oppressors.

As you progress the story slowly unfolds and you are confronted by tough bosses. Deadly courtesans, greedy businessmen, and even military leaders, each one guaranteed to challenge you with their dynamic abilities and brutal attacks.

The result is a game that is as exhilarating as it is historically interesting. You explore the Dadaocheng area of Taipei city as it looked like in the early 1900’s, fun through colourful streets, ride on a speeding train, and make your escape through dark sewers.
