Play Overview
Audio Wizards (2019) is an adventure where you battle enemies with elemental spells. It's unusual for offering an adventure experience for blind and visually impaired players. You play as an apprentice who travels with a seasoned wizard called Saundaman. Saundaman’s teaching methods are pretty much “learn as you go” while he quenches his never-ending thirst for tea.
Play involves protecting the world from Distortions, nasty creatures that thrive in noise. As the enemies approach you identify them by their sound and choose an appropriate spell in a rock-scissor-paper style hierarchy. Swipe up for fire to beat earth. Swipe left for earth to beat lightning. Swipe down for lightning to beat water. Swipe right for water to beat fire.
These attacks can be applied to three different lanes. So you need to determine both the style of attack required as well as the location for that attack. You can use the sound the enemies make for this. There's also the option to use easily distinguishable visuals.
The result is a game that takes you on a tongue-in-cheek journey through 25 levels that slowly unravel the mystery behind the invasion of Distortions. Do well and you collect wizarding hats to increase your chances of survival and keep aiming for those sweet hi-scores.
