Play Overview
Frozen Frenzy (2021) is a jumping/flying and swimming game. You play an ice-cube on a frozen sea and must avoid the whales, mines and other dangers. It's novel because of the risk-reward decisions you have to make if you are to collect points and survive. Each choice might land you in danger or (hopefully) earn you more points.
This requirement for caution balances the game's fast paced. As you play (and die) you soon develop strategies for lasting longer and scoring more points. You learn to assess whether the risk is worth the reward. Should you venture out or stay close to home? Swimming under the water may afford you lots of treasure, but it is also very dangerous and full of hazards. Jumping across the surface is also an option but the ice flows move and the whales can jump.
As your character levels up you can customise your ice cube with silly outfits and perks. You start with no facial features which is unusual for a hero, but the addition of personalisation gives him a lot of personality with the addition of hats and other items.
The world has a day-night cycle to give you a sense of time passing. Night-time is accompanied by wolf howls and other night sounds as well as the darkened sky. There is a lot to explore in the level, and although individual games are short you may find yourself playing this for quite a while as you try to level up.
This is a fun and engaging frenetic game which may induce involuntary squealing as you are attacked by leaping killer whales and exploding mines that drop from the sky. A lot of fun for kids of all ages.
