Play OverviewPlay Overview

Supertype (2018) is a puzzle game you play with letters, but isn't about making words. You use the peculiar shapes of these most familiar of symbols to cover one or more dots on the level. Each letter has different uses as you try and get them to land where they need to. P's fall over. L's can be toppled like dominos. O's roll down slopes.

Play involves experimenting with different letter combinations. Once entered they fall down onto the level with the game modelling real physics. This encourages experimentation and lateral thinking as you get letters to knock into each other, tumble off ledges and swing around pivot points.

Through its 130 or so levels, something special happens. More than just a puzzle, Supertype is a loving ode to the beauty and peculiarity of letters. How does a p fall? How much does an r weigh? How does the dot over an i sound? The result is a super relaxing, zen-like game with a super smooth, self-generating sound track.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Supertype 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 9 months ago.
