Everybody's Golf is a series of golf games that create a detailed, gentle electronic version of the game. Although there are cartoon characters the focus is on realism and positive encouragement as you make your way around the various courses. The controls, while simple to grasp, allow for improvement with practice and cater for experts as well as novices. Alongside the main games, a virtual-reality edition was released in 2019 and iOS game in 2021 with shorter rounds and tweaked controls.

This page highlights the accessibility for the latest main game in the series, Everybody's Golf (2017) in this report. Older games may not have all the features indicated here.

When in single-player mode, you can select from a variety of difficulties. On harder difficulties, you get more experience and rewards, but the opponents are more proficient. In multiplayer modes, you cannot adjust the difficulty.

Because the power of your shot is dependent on when you hit the ball, you'll need to be able to react quickly. Lining up your shot also requires quite precise inputs.

Some of the text in the game can be quite small, and some parts of it can blend in with the background. The subtitles, however, which are present in virtually all areas, save your victory cry, are always large, clear, and of high contrast. Because of this, the entire game can easily be played without sound.

If you want to, you can use a single Playstation Move controller, similar to the way you use a Wii remote in Wii Sports golf, to aim and take your shots in a motion similar to the action of real golfing. You can also simply use a regular Playstation controller in both the VR and non-VR versions. You can use one motioned touch control in the Clap Hanz Golf iOS version of the game.

The HUD displays lots of information, all of it crucial for getting the perfect shot. There is also a game map that clearly shows your location and the hole's location. The grid which you use to line up your shot, along with other aspects of the game, can sometimes get lost in the background, making them occasionally difficult to see.

Subtitles

Large Clear Subtitles: Subtitles are large, clear and of good contrast. They are at least 1/20 (46 pixels on 1080 screen) the height of a landscape screen and at least 1/40 height on portrait screens, or can be adjusted to be. We base this on the full line-height, including the space above and below the letters. Considered separately from the general text of the game, the subtitles are large, clear and of good contrast.

Some Speech Subtitled: Some spoken content has subtitles. This reduces the pressure on interpreting all the spoken content, although not everything is captured textually.

Captions

Speaker Indicator: Textual captions indicate who is speaking (or there is only ever one person speaking). This can also be indicated visually in the game with character icons or placing text in speech bubbles next to the person speaking.

Voice Acted

Some Dialogue is Voice Acted: Some of the game dialogue and narrative is voice acted. This reduces the pressure on reading all the dialogue text, although not everything is provided audibly.
