Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a running, jumping, bashing and exploring game. It’s a re-release of the classic platform games featuring the purple dragon, Spyro. The attraction is the well-designed levels, collecting and exploration. It’s an amiable game that invites players to find and collect every gem.

Our accessibility examiner, Ben Kendall, first checked Spyro Reignited Trilogy accessibility 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Ben Kendall and updated 8 months ago.

NotesAccessibility Notes

Health is indicated by the colour of Sparx the dragonfly. This is constantly moving, and also not colourblind friendly. Although the original games had subtitles, the remastered trilogy leaves these out.

You can choose between 2 different control schemes; Reignited and Classic. Classic reverts the controls back to the way they were in the original Spyro games, while the Reignited control scheme is the standard one in the game.

You can set the camera control to Active, which means that the camera automatically follows you around, negating the use of one of the joysticks. If you want more control over the camera, you can set it to passive, which allows you to move it using the second joystick.

The subtitles are white and on a dark grey background, are relatively large and clear. Other text in the game is often on a purple background but is also large and clear.

Reading Level

How much reading is required to play the game's main path or story and how complex the language is. The presence of voiced characters doesn't reduce this requirement, as it's recorded as a separate datapoint.

Simple Minimal Reading: Minimal reading is required. The quantity and complexity of reading are at a level that a primary/elementary student (9-year-old) could understand.

Text Visibility

Large Clear Text: All essential text is large and clear or can be adjusted to be. The general text used throughout the game in menus, instructions and other key information (excluding subtitles that are assessed separately) is at least 1/20 (46 pixels on 1080 screen) the height on landscape screens and at least 1/40 height on portrait screens.
