At the Hedges of Time is a puzzle game where you help Sir Montaclé escape the hedge maze and free himself from the witch's curse. It's a block pushing puzzle with a twist: you can rewind time. However, not all the blocks are affected by time.

Play involves moving blocks onto switches to open doors and solve traps. It starts simply but needs considerable lateral thinking and forward planning. It's the sort of game that appears to be broken and impossible to solve, until you figure out the solution.

The result is a fascinating game with well designed levels that has a surprisingly strong narrative by the end.

The levels get harder quickly and there is no difficulty setting. But the difficulty is in working out the solution rather than reaction time. Once you know the answer you can execute it in under a minute.

You can rewind time at any point in the game, which is part of the play mechanic. This means you can always undo your last move, although some items in the game resist this rewind feature so you sometimes have to reset a room.

While the game does not require you to hold down the rewind button, there are times you may need to rewind a large number of moves at once, and holding the button down is the fastest way to do so.
