Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is a turn-based strategy game where an elite group of soldiers (inspired by characters from American literature) defend Earth from alien invaders in an alternate steam-powered future. While it sounds wacky, there's a surprising level of complexity and strategy to the combat; from picking the best weapons, to attack style, and team dynamics. It's the less well-known spiritual forebear to Steamworld Heist and combines its peculiar reality with turn-based tactics and a unique comic book presentation.

NotesAccessibility Notes

Because the game is turn-based, there is no need for quick actions, rapid button presses, or simultaneous inputs. Additionally, there is no need to hold down buttons.

On the Nintendo 3DS system, you can connect the Circle Pad Pro accessory, which adds another joystick to the system, and use it to look around and aim. Alternatively, you can do this using A, B, X, and Y or the touchscreen. On New Nintendo 3DS and 2DS systems, you can use the C-Stick to look and aim.

There are no difficulty settings, and some areas of the game can be quite challenging, requiring coherent strategies and prolonged concentration.

Text and subtitles are generally high in contrast, but because of the system's small screen and low resolution, it can occasionally be hard to make out the words. Subtitles are all presented in speech bubbles.

There are no maps in the game. The game can be played without sound.
