With no visibility in a small enclosed space, you need to make repairs, stop leaks and take recognisance pictures before time runs out. The claustrophobic setting, lack of outside visibility and eerie photos of dank creatures make an unnerving challenge that demands your full attention.
You need to hold down buttons to move and turn your submarine. You need to do certain things within a time limit, such as put out fires, or else you die and return to the last save point, which is frequent due to the game's autosave feature.
At the end of the game, when you reach the final area to be photographed, there is a loud jumpscare which occurs when you turn around to take the photo, and then the game ends.
The text throughout the game is all high contrast but often also quite small. There is dialogue at the beginning but it is distorted by the radio so it is hard to understand. Much of the game is quite low in contrast.
The game map features all points of interest and the trench layout but does not locate you, requiring you to use your coordinates to approximate your position.
