Skye Tales is a gentle adventure about exploring a rich playground of floating islands as a dragon called Skye. Play involves traversing each chapter, meeting and interacting with different creatures and solving puzzles along the way. It's a game that stands out for its picture book aesthetics and its invitation to explore the richly packed worlds.

NotesAccessibility Notes

Skye Tales gradually introduces its controls, never overburdening the player with complex combo requirements. You can use either stick or D-pad to control movement and menus.

The game provides signpost hints next to puzzles. These are always available and can be revisited as much as possible. You can disable this on the menu if you choose. The game provides a detailed list of tasks that breaks things down into multiple parts for easy tracking. The game map displays the faces of the people you need to talk to and where they are.

Items are colour coded with pulses of colour to indicate how you interact with them: grabbing is blue, signing is pink and dashing is rust colour. The game offers a high contrast where you can select the colour of the character, denizens, and interactive objects. You can adjust the colours of these items. You can also dim the background and make it less busy. This is also helpful for colourblind players. Text, while high in contrast, is quite small and cannot be adjusted.

The game uses sounds to signpost in-game items. For example, hint posts make a sound. The game also makes a different sound for the Singing, Dashing and Grabbing actions as you do them successfully.

We didn’t want to produce a bland, flat gameplay experience devoid of any challenge or reward. Skye encounters gentle puzzles which wait patiently for you, are simple to interact with and have a safety net of hints to refer to.
