Tallowmere is a series of running, jumping and fighting games. You aim to get a high score as you journey through a vast, randomly generated 2D retro-style dungeon, dodging traps and killing enemies in gory and unusual ways. Its unique combination of platforming and real-physics fighting mechanics are simple to grasp, yet can take a long time to perfect, offering a fresh new challenge to master.

NotesAccessibility Notes

The Difficulty in Tallowmere is not adjustable, but the game starts out rather straightforward and gradually gets harder, meaning most people will be able to enjoy at least the first few levels. When you exit the game, you start at the beginning of the level you were last on, allowing you to take a break and pick up where you left off, although any progress you made in that room will be lost.

Because the game isn't voice acted, you'll need to read the dialogue and instructions. Some of the instructions are quite small and easy to miss, but the subtitles for voices are clearly presented in a speech bubble and contrast the background colour.

There is full native gamepad support, and can be played using either the 4 way D-pad to move or one of the sticks, so you don't need to use the sticks to play at all, but some may find it easier. you can also play with just the keyboard, using the arrow keys to move around. You can easily remap the buttons by pressing the escape key while playing.

Lots of the game is bark brown or grey, making it at times quite difficult to identify certain sections of the game, like traders or enemies.

Most events have an accompanying sound effect, making them more easily identifiable.
