Yoshi's Crafted World is a running and jumping game where you control a friendly dinosaur, Yoshi in a hand-made world of paper-craft. You work through each level, eating or jumping on enemies while searching for hidden items and collectables. It stands out for being both welcoming for new players and offering a cooperative challenge for parents and children.

Our accessibility examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Yoshi's Crafted World accessibility 2 years ago. It was re-examined by Andy Robertson and updated 2 years ago.

NotesAccessibility Notes

This game supports accessibility, as described by Special Effect.

Mellow mode enables you to fly as much as you want, which makes progress easier. You also get more eggs when you eat enemies. You can turn this on or off at any time via the pause menu. In Mellow Mode, there is a flashing flower indicator and rumble to let you know when you are near a flower. There's also a two-player cooperative mode where one player moves and the other shoots which reduces buttons for each player and gives you unlimited eggs to throw.

You can select between three button mappings, but you can't remap controls. You can disable the controller rumble feature. In two-player mode, you can jump on each other's backs so each player has just two buttons (walking and jumping/eating and throwing).

The text is generally large and of good contrast, although some of the dialogue options text is considerably smaller. You also have to target items in the background for extra points, these can be hard to see as they are a similar colour, quite transparent or obscured and moving.
