Equipment Components

These relate to games that work with specific peripherals, controller and equipment that enable people to play with each other in different ways.
 

Bag
COMPONENTS
A bag from which to draw items. This is sometimes useful to enable players to draw an item at random. Also it's sometimes provided as a way to keep small pieces from being lost and more accessible.

Board
COMPONENTS
The game board and secondary sheets where play happens. This is where the game pieces are played and positioned depending on the game rules. Commonly the board is a shared space where players compete or cooperate during play. Some game board are constructed before you play. Where they are put together with different pieces it enables the play area to be different each time you play.

Book
COMPONENTS
In addition to rule books, games often include books as a tangible aspect of play. This may provide additional information to what's going on, or may replace the board as the location of the game.

Cards
COMPONENTS
Cards and decks of cards. These are usually a way to offer players access to particular resources, characters and items. Players are either dealt a starting hand of cards or work to gain specific cards during play. Some games allow players to trade or draft cards between each other, or with a central stock of cards.

Dice
COMPONENTS
Dice of different values are used in a wide variety of games. Rolling a dice is, of course, a useful way to generate randomness into a game. This is adjusted in different games by the style of dice being rolled and what outcomes are depicted on different faces of the dice.

Figures
COMPONENTS
Figures are often called Meeple in board games. Like the different Pawn, Bishop, Knight and so in in Chess. They are usually small people-shaped pieces that are used to specify where that character is in play. Players may have a number of colour coded Meeple under their control, or may have one more specific Figure that they move around.

COMPONENTS
Along with the standard interactive elements that are found in different games, some offer a specific gadget or interactive element that has been specifically crafted to fit just this game.

Pen and Pad
COMPONENTS
Many games provide you with pens and paper (or need you to provide them) to keep tack of scores and other interactions between players. There are some games that provide a custom pad to write on that not only tracks score but your tactical decisions on how to interact with the game.

Placeables
COMPONENTS
Some games let you place buildings, resources and other symbolic blocks to the game board. This allows the player to interact with the game world and adjust how it looks and operates.

Score Board
COMPONENTS
In addition to the main game board, many games provide a specific space for you to track you score as you progress. This is commonly a scoring track that you move a score marker along, but is sometimes a pad that you write on (that is sometimes wipeable).

Currency and resources in games are usually tracked by some kind of token. This could be a coin or other monetary element. It can also be colour or icon coded resource tiles.
