Play OverviewPlay Overview

Akimbot is an action-adventure where you are a mechanical robot in a chaotic, futuristic universe. Play involves traversing the dense levels using your wall-running and jet-boost skills. You can take on enemies from a distance or get in close for combat depending on your arsenal of weapons.

You play Exe, a robot designed for hacking with a wide range of abilities. Early in the game, you are approached by the Ambassador to help retrieve an ancient Artifact and prevent the world from descending into chaos. As you traverse through levels there is a range of hazards to overcome. Head-on isn't always the best approach as you can find ways to circumnavigate or trap enemies. As you progress you are helped along by the slightly depressed floating AI assistant, Shipset.

The result is a quirky take on Ratchet and Clank-style adventures. Here though, the locomotion through levels is as much a part of the challenge as the shooting and ever-increasing arsenal of weapons.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Akimbot 14 months ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 9 months ago.
