Play Overview
Coconuts (2013) is a dexterity game where you fire coconuts into cups using a Monkey launcher. Get the coconuts into the cups to add them to your pyramid. There's more skill (and cunning) than first appears as you can get coconuts into your opponent's cups to steal them, or get special coloured cups for extra goes.
You play as a monkey, who is battling to become the ruler of Monkey Mountain by capturing six plastic cups from the grid in the middle to build a pyramid. You do this by firing a Coconut piece from your monkey's home space into a cup, either in the middle or (more usefully) your opponent's home space. When you get a coconut in a cup, you add it to your pile.
You and your opponents have to wrestle for control of the cups, capturing and losing cups as you slowly progress towards your goal. There are special coloured cups that give you extra goes, and six Magic cards that enable you to hinder your opponents. For example, the Guess Who? card means that you have to fire with your eyes closed for a turn.
So what starts as a friendly aiming and firing game, quickly becomes a too-and-fro battle for control of the cups. Each go you must decide between taking an easy shot for neutral cups or risking a harder shot to take cups away from your opponent.
