Crucible is a team-based shooting game played on a varied and dangerous alien world. Humans, aliens, and robots converge to hunt the mysterious and powerful substance known as Essence. Fight together, unlock new abilities, adapt to ever-changing conditions, and emerge victorious.

It's similar to other team-shooting games like Overwatch or Fortnite. But it also adds elements of games like League of Legends, with neutral computer-controlled enemies in the battle too. It also includes the ability to level up as you do in a role-play game.

You can fight with different characters. Each has different weapons and abilities. You select specific upgrades will be available to unlock, before each match. This adds strategy to the play and requires teams to work together to balance abilities, or go all-in on one style of fighting.

In the Heart of the Hives mode you collect hearts from lethal drone-spitting terrors. This is a four-on-four fight to be the first team to capture three hearts.

In the Alpha Hunters mode, you have just one life. Eight teams of two fight to be the last team—or solo hunter—standing. If your teammate dies, you can form a temporary alliance with another hunter, but that temporary truce will be broken if both of you make it to the final three.

In the Harvester Command mode you each control one Essence generating harvest points for your eight-player team. The aim is to steal your enemies harvesters to gain points faster. You can also take out enemy hunters for points. The first team to 100 points wins.

Crucible is currently out on PC, but from the rating information, it looks like it will soon be on PlayStation and Xbox One as well.
