Overview
Deadlight takes the monochrome running, jumping and shooting action in a more mature direction and with a deeper and coherent story. It draws on older (and equally excellent) platform games Another World and Flashback. You control Randall Wayne, a single character trying to survive the zombies to get to his family, which he does by running, jumping and solving puzzles.
It's high stakes and a violent world in which you are trying to survive, but this contributes to the exhilaration and at times moving plight of the protagonist. Often the game forces the player to use intelligence rather than violence to survive.
The game drops you into a no-win scenario. Although you have an objective this is not the usual saving the world narrative. It's about normal people and their encounter with these harsh situations. There are firearms and combat, but these are usually the worst point that you can make. Think and think fast about a non-violent approach to the game.
