OverviewOverview

Death Trash is a role-play game set in a post-apocalyptic, horror open world. Humans travelled to the stars, but unearthed machines and killer worms so had to flee into enclosed habitats. You play an outcast in the wasteland with a dangerous burden to carry that will take you through deserts, ruins, the underground, and beyond.

Play involves exploring the large world, taking on enemies with ranged twin-stick shooting and melee combat. Or maybe you decide to stealth past or pickpocket their equipment. Interactions with other characters lead to a branching adventure as you try and accrue enough items, worms and metal to craft what you need to survive.

The role-playing is engaging and flexible to let you progress your character in different ways. But it's the gritty, post-apocalyptic wasteland that is the real star here. Explore hand-painted, organic locations populated with unusual characters. Talk to the Fleshkraken. Visit the Puke Bar. Descend into old temples in search of expanding your awareness.

Unusually for these kinds of games, it's possible to complete a play-through of the game without killing a single character. It was one of the design goals of the game, that you can use stealth for a lot of situations and complete the game without violence.

'Yes, we’re aiming for that. It’s a big development task, but it was one of the design goals right from the start. It might be necessary to rely on stealth for a lot of situations, but we want to include more tools for the player, too.'

Coming to PC in early access first then final version on PC, Xbox, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Rated PEGI 16 for Strong Violence.

The developers describe the content like this: "This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages: Nudity or Sexual Content, Frequent Violence or Gore, General Mature Content."

Skill Rating

14+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. The wide options of the open world and the retro visuals are popular with older teenagers. Provided they are ok with the violence and sexual content, the skills involved are inquisitiveness, exploration and resource management. Players also need to make decisions about their character and cope with frantic fights.
