Overview
It can be played as a solo experience, or with up to 7 friends. Play starts in wilderness areas where you explore and enter randomly generated dungeons. You progress by completing quests for characters you meet. This takes you from a simple palisade fort to forests, plains, ancient monasteries and medieval fortress.
The combination of Dungeons & Dragons-style adventures, upgradable characters and all manner of items and loot to earn, make this a highly enjoyable game. The remaster updates the original game's visuals by offering modern 3D graphics. Cutscenes are remastered in higher resolution and the sound is now 7.1 Dolby Surround. The new game also lets you transfer items between your characters.

There are three difficulty levels: Normal, Nightmare, and Hell. You must complete the game on one setting before it offers the next level. On higher difficulties, monsters are stronger and you lose experience if you die. However, you do get better items and rewards. You can also take the same character through each difficulty, levelling up as you go.
You can also select between normal mode, where you can resurrect yourself, or hardcore mode where you only have one life and must start again if killed.
