Play OverviewPlay Overview

Disneyland Adventures (2011) is an approachable little adventure through a Disney park. You explore the well know locations at Disneyland from Main Street to Critter Country and take on quests and challenges with the Disney characters. It originally stood out for the ability to play by just moving your body in front of the Kinect camera, although now you have the option for controller play. Either way, it's a love letter to Disneyland that fits well with really young players.

You start by creating your character before setting out to explore the park. As you go you talk to different characters who give to fetching and carrying missions. Some of these missions lead into trying out the Disneyland rides. This moves from on-foot exploration to more exciting flying, shooting, rhythm-action and racing around classic Disney locations (join Peter Pan to battle Captain Hook, high-five Mickey Mouse or hug Snow White).

There's always something to do next so that young players are led from character to character and on into the ride. This may sound a bit linear and simplistic, but the open park and plethora of characters to talk to ensure a good amount of variety.

In some sequences, players engage in battles with villains from various Disney movies: swordfights with Peter Pan's Captain Hook and the pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean; a laser battle with Toy Story's Emperor Zurg. Combat is sometimes accompanied by laser fire, sword-clanging sounds, and explosions as enemies' health meters are drained.
