You play one of a crew of up to 8 aboard a 19th-century British warship exploring the arctic. When you run out of resources and coal to power the ship's engine, you must venture out into the frozen tundra to find much-needed resources. However, two of your crew are secretly evil and will use dark magic and ancient powers to try and eliminate everyone else.
You attack animals for food and resources, which can be used for healing, crafting weapons and items, and more, and you can loot everything you find in the hope of finding useful items. The vast open world provides ample opportunity for survival, but also allows the two traitors to make their moves.
To avoid being discovered, you need to use subterfuge and deception to win over the other players, and indirectly cause the death of your victims. From both the crew and the traitors, clever strategies and on-the-fly thinking are required to emerge victorious.
It's a unique game that combines elements from a variety of genres to create an experience that requires skill, quick thinking and deception, making a novel alternative to games like Among Us for an older audience.

The Developers have given a mature content warning. "You can chop the limbs off animals and people with a sword. You can pick up severed heads / limbs and run around with them and then use them to kill other people. Sometimes dead people have willies."
In addition, the secret villains can use incantations and spells that summon, among other things, spells and cannibals. In order to activate these, you need to pierce your hand with a blade, which could be interpreted as self-harm.
You can also kill animals, by hitting them with objects, shooting them, or laying traps (such as bear traps). There are frequents blood effects when these events, and others besides, occur.

There are often events in the game where you need quick reactions, such as fighting animals and enemies or fleeing from a pack of cannibals. Such events, and others, often require precise use of controls, such as aiming a gun, and often you need to rapidly press buttons.
The text in the game is high contrast but is often in cursive fonts that make it difficult to read. You need to be able to communicate with other players through speech, as there is no text chat available. because of this and the many visual cues in the game, sound is required.
The game is often fairly uniform in colour, and certain sections are very dark, such as caves (which you can bring lanterns into to light up). When you are one of the secret traitors, the other traitor is outlined in blue, and this outline can be seen through walls for some distance. Events you cause, such as a pack of cannibals appearing, also have the same blue outline applied. No other players are outlined, so no need to distinguish between colours is required. Regular team players cannot have other players outlined.
