OverviewOverview

Ekstase is a puzzle game like Tetris. Only here the falling shapes are more varied and when they hit the bottom they fall apart into their constituent parts. This creates a novel puzzle challenge requiring forward planning, quick reactions and skill. The whole game is present in a techno-dance style that is an ode to that era.

Play involves steering the falling blocks to arrange matching colours that are then removed when the progressing scan line of the same colour hits them. The larger the groups of matching blocks you create, the more points you score.

Flow mode is a way to play that matches your ability automatically. Difficulty automatically adjusts to your progress. Beat99 mode challenges you to rank up your multiplier by dropping shapes in time with the beat. Classic mode lets you set the challenge you want by selecting the amount of colours and the speed of the shapes. Time Attack mode sets a highscore for you to beat in a set amount of time.

You can control the brightness of the animation in the background. Setting this to the minimum turns off the background visuals so you have a black screen. On the level where you need to drop blocks in time with the music there is a visual indicator of the beat to enable this to work without hearing.
