Flinthook is running, swinging and shooting game where you get around using a grappling hook. It stands out for its focus on movement flow. As you learn how to move around quickly, you progress through a series of three ship-based levels to find and then defeat the boss. You die frequently and have to start again, but each time you do you can bring with health and weapon upgrades.

You control a masked space pirate searching for treasure and shooting enemies. You use the left stick to move around and aim the hook, which is then activated by a press of a button. Along with your grapple, you have a plasma gun. This can slow down time to help dodge enemy attacks. It also fires bullets affected by gravity which adds to the expertise required to do well.

The result is a frantic reaction-heavy challenge, but one that favours practice and skill as much grinding. Flinthook is a charming experience, that demands your all if you are to beat it. Whether you manage that or not, it will leave you smiling.
