Play OverviewPlay Overview

From Space (2022) is a shooting game where squads of four players liberate the earth from an alien infestation. Play is in B-Movie style with over-the-top weaponry and a cartoony post-apocalyptic world. It stands out for combing the classic dungeon action of Gauntlet with the teamwork chaos of Castle Crashers.

From Space works for one player but really comes to life for teams of four. You squad up online and work through different missions to shoot, blow up and generally obliterate the alien menace. There is a range of weapons (Rocket Launchers, Mini-guns and Flamethrowers) to help your team, but you still need a strategy (and some tactical items like grenades and mines) to stay on top of the ever-advancing alien hordes.

As you progress you can upgrade and choose perks to offer new ways of dealing with the more powerful aliens. The focus stays on the team, as you can share and swap perks with each other to create the best combination of your abilities.

The result is an exuberant back-slapping alien exploding blockbuster of a game. Like the previous similar game from the developer (It came from space and ate our brains), it's not hugely deep or nuanced, but it is a lot of fun.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked From Space 18 months ago. It was re-examined by Ellen Robertson and updated 3 weeks ago.

Content Rating

Rated PEGI 12 for Violence. This game features moderate violence in which the player's character uses scavenged weapons to shoot at aliens, which fire back in return. Reactions to violence are unrealistic. Characters flash when hit but bleed copious amounts of pink liquid. Defeated aliens disappear, leaving behind large pink puddles.

Users Interact: The game enables players to interact and communicate with each other, so may expose players to language usually associated with older rated games.

Rated for younger players in Australia. Rated IGEA PG.

Skill Level

8+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. Still, it's important for parents and guardians to consider the maturity required to process the game content. Players need to be able to cope with the non-stop action and ever encroaching enemies. They also need good shooting and strategy skills to make use of items. Playing together well in a team is also helpful.
