Gonner 2 is a running and jumping game where you defend yourself by shooting enemies in a chaotic procedural environment as a small character called Ikk. You'll need a large amount of patience as you die a lot. To progress you need to hone your shooting and moving skills.

The game has a colourfully drawn style with large cartoon explosions and bullets. Ikk can dodge and dash as well as firing large weapons that can be acquired as you play. The more damage and combos you deal to enemies the more powerful you become, however this is quickly balanced by the large amount of creatures swarming you.

Upon death you can be revived if you still have your skull, if not you have to restart the current level. It's an unforgiving experience, but one that is satisfying to master. Playing with four people makes things more manageable but does add to the chaos.

None of the game information (such as health, ammo, lives, item functions) are explained either.
