Play OverviewPlay Overview

Herd Mentality (2020) is a communication game where players aim to score points by sharing the same ideas as others. One person reads out a question, then everyone secretly writes an answer trying to match the most popular answer. It's unusual because the winning answers aim at what's popular rather than what's right.

You start by placing all the Cow tokens in the middle with the Pink Cow figure on top. Each turn, a question is read out and players secretly write down an answer that they hope matches everyone else's.

You take turns reading out your answers. If yours matches the majority you get a Cow token - the first to eight tokens wins. However, if you ever give a unique answer, then you take the Pink Cow and cannot win until you lose it - by someone else guessing an answer not matching anyone.

The result is a uniquely social game about knowing the people you are playing with and what they think. This lets you accurately predict their answers and score points and also have a laugh at how predictable (or not) they are.

Our examiner, Rob Prior, first checked Herd Mentality 23 months ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 5 weeks ago.
