Overview
Hitman 3 is the eighth main instalment in the Hitman series and the third and final instalment of the World of Assassination trilogy. Like the previous games you play as Agent 47 and travel to various locations and carry out contracted assassinations of criminal targets. Hitman III adds six new locations including Dubai, Dartmoor, Berlin, and Chongqing. If you own the previous games in the trilogy, Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 (2018), you can import maps, levels and progress.
Although it is a violent game, the interest here is understanding the consequences of your actions in the game. The game simulates many moving "actors" in the scenes so you must take care with your approach. It's a living breath, tactile and immersive world where your decisions matter.
This is a game with levels designed to be played multiple times in different ways as you act out different approaches to your target. As you progress you unlock new starting locations, gear and interactive options that open up new ways to tackle levels. You get to be James Bond and put together your own tricks, exploits and stealthy take downs.
The original Hitman series launched back in 2000:
- Hitman: Codename 47 (2000) PC
- Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002) Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube
- Hitman: Contracts (2004) Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox
- Hitman: Blood Money (2006) Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360
- Hitman: Absolution (2012) Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, OS X
The World of Assassination trilogy relaunched the game in 2016:
- Hitman (2016)
- Hitman 2 (2018)
- Hitman 3 (2021)

Accessibility
The accessibility for Hitman III includes the ability to tweak how visible enemies are and whether you want to toggle or hold to aim.
You can remap the keys and mouse but not for Gamepad buttons. There is a Weapon Toggle option to avoid holding, but this doesn't apply to other projectiles like knives or coins. You also need to press rapidly to subdue enemy characters. You have to hold to use the Instinct mode to see enemies.
You can change the size of interaction prompts to make them easier to see. There is an excellent audio queue for detection of an enemy. It plays an increasingly loud wind whistling sound to indicate the increasing likelihood of being noticed. This is also displayed as a directional bar around your character.
