Play OverviewPlay Overview

Homo Machina (2019) is a point-and-click adventure game where you solve puzzles from the inside of someone's body. It's inspired by the surreal avant-garde scientist Fritz Kahn. Play involves exploring and interacting with each bodily location to trigger solutions that let you progress.

It's a puzzle game where the internal workings of the human body are represented as a gigantic 1920s factory. You are plunged into this system of nerves, vessels, pumps and valves to help the body function correctly. As you progress you work your way through thirty steps that take you through the entire day: opening your eyes, chewing a toast or listening to music, through seamless navigation and intuitive gameplay.

The result is a peculiar puzzle that is as intriguing as it is educational.

Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Homo Machina a year ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated a year ago.

Because the game deals with different bodily processes from the inside, it can be a little squeamish. There are also occasions where you suffer an injury such as a cut from glass. These are not depicted visually apart from the flashing element of the body. There is talk of the need to coagulated blood, depicted as red balls flowing through pipes.
