Journey to the Savage Planet is an adventure-shooting game played from a first-person perspective. You explore a planet to catalogue various alien flora and fauna and collect the resources you need to craft items and upgrades like jetpacks and grappling hooks.

As you progress you are able to access more areas through use of your new equipment. You shoot hostile indigenous lifeforms. While doing this you document the world to determine whether it is suitable for human colonization and discover a dark secret.
