Play OverviewPlay Overview

Just One (2018) is a communication party game where you guess words based on one-word clues from the group. You work together to help the guesser by writing one-word clues on the wipeable easels. Unusually, if the clues are the same they are removed before the guesser can see them. As you work together to score points you need to not only think about the most helpful clues but the ones that other players may not suggest.

Play involves being dealt 13 cards that each contain five words. You work through the cards, turning over one at a time and randomly picking one of the words to guess. The other players secretly then write their one-word clue, trying not to match anyone else's clue as these cancel out and are removed.

Once the remaining clues are shown to the guesser, they can either guess the word or pass. If they pass, the guesser moves on to the next card. If they guess it correctly they get the card for points. If they guess incorrectly they lose not only the current card but the next card as well.

The result is a game that's as much about knowing how your teammates, as offering the most useful clue. Quite often, the most useful clue is provided by multiple people and cancelled out. To do well you need a team of people who can provide a wide range of different styles of clues.
