Play involves jumping, clinging to walls, sliding, butt stomping, and dashing through seven unique worlds. It would be a tough challenge for a game you controlled with lots of sticks and buttons, but here you do it with just two buttons.
However, this simplicity of controls actually makes the game flow. You need to learn when to press and when to hold off. If you do die you respawn quickly and try again. Get through the basic game and you unlock secret extra-challenging levels.
The experience is all wrapped up in crisp pixel-art inspired visuals like the old Commodore 64, Spectrum and Amstrad days. There's also a great heart-pounding electronic soundtrack by Jake Mercer.
The only violence is with the robot that gets blown up.
9+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game.
You can adjust the difficulty to offer you infinite jumps and adjust the speed of the game. You already have infinite lives in the game.
You generally don't have to hold buttons. But there is a mini-game where you have to hold a button down to kick. You don't have to rapidly press buttons in general, but when lava is chasing you there is a need to press jump a couple of times each second. You need to press two buttons at the same time for a stomp.
