Klask

Klask (2013) is an action board game that combines aspects of table football and air hockey. Your aim is to use your under-the-table-magnet-controlled player to push the ball into the opponent's goal. The twist is that you lose points if you inadvertently push your player into your hole or knock into the other pieces in play. It's a raucous but highly skilled game of cat and mouse as you try and outmanoeuvre your opponent without coming a cropper.

Play starts with standing up the various pieces on the board and taking control of your player via a magnet under the playfield. Once the ball is in play you try and hit it to your opponent's hole without knocking into the obstacles. This requires both restraint and skill as you want to give the ball a good strong hit but must be careful of what else is around your player.

The result is a game that's simple to learn but hard to master. Unlike table football or air hockey, it favours more careful play as opposed to simply hitting the ball as hard as you can. The obstacles, unusual movement and ever-present risk of an own goal create a fast-paced knife-edge battle between vigour and caution.
