Lair Of The Clockwork God is an adventure played with two characters from different game genres. Ben is a die-hard, old-school LucasArts Adventure fan, one foot stuck in the 90s. Dan is younger, running and jumping platform character, he's hip, he's sensitive, and his nose is a different colour to the rest of his face.

You play the adventure, solving puzzles, interacting with other characters and finding useful objects by switching between the platform play and the point-and-click adventure investigation.

Dan and Ben have stared in other games from the developer, but this one stands in its own right. It's a game about getting older and the fear of getting left behind by new ways of playing, living and loving.

"Ben still lives by the self-set rules of ‘90s point-and-click adventures," writes one reviewer, "perambulating levels with one eyebrow raised, and refusing to climb over even the smallest of ledges. Dan, meanwhile, breathlessly chases relevance, ditching the conventions of a dying genre to mantle through the world in the style of popular platformers instead."

Amongst the funny writing, sometimes puerile humour are more tender moments where the characters move towards accepting the turning of the years.
