You explore the world and meet inhabitants who need help with everyday tasks. From mountain tops to playgrounds and campsites, it's as much fun finding every nook and cranny of the island as it is completing the quests. What's surprising is how much depth and variety there is here, as the game gently apes different games from Zelda to Ace Attorney to Skyrim.
As you progress you collect arts and craft supplies to create all sorts of items that help the island flourish. From skimming stones, to identifying food preferences, repairing broken friendships or even skateboard racing and holding court there's a lot to do.
The result is a story-time experience with a gentle adventure that's about helping others rather than yourself. Running through it is superbly written characters and well-observed tension between siblings growing up and entering different phases of life.
You can play this game in the following styles:
6+ year-olds usually have the required skill to enjoy this game. The simple movement and forgiving climbing make it easier for younger players to enjoy. The setting and the stories are straight from the playground, so with some help on the readying this is perfect even for those in the early stages of school.
You can opt to use the same button for Interact and Hit or Interact and Jump to reduce the number of buttons required.
Text is large and easy to read. When you are nearby someone speaking off screen their speech bubble appears and is tagged back to them to make it easy to find them.
You can adjust the closeness of the camera which enables you to make objects and characters in the game a lot easier.
Although the missions are clear, and usually just finding a particular character, it's not always easy to find the list of tasks and the game lacks a map which can make it hard to navigate. Informational clues are provided by characters as to the location of objectives but you can't revisit them if you forget them.
