Play Overview
Lulu's Temple (2022) is a retro-inspired fast and furious action adventure about an archaeologist venturing deep into a pyramid filled with horrific creatures with only his torch and gun to protect him. You explore the levels, using your torch to light the way to both solve puzzles and defeat enemies.
Play involves running, jumping and shooting your way through the horrifying pyramid, taking on dangerous foes, traps and other mysteries. The way is completely dark apart from fires, explosions and the light from your torch. You can charge and throw your torch to get a glimpse of what's ahead or use it to ignite creatures or lamps to further your field of view.
It takes the living breathing world of Spelunky or Castlevania and injects reaction-based jumping and shooting like a classic arcade shoot-em-up. It's tough and heavily reliant on reflexes and skill.
The result is a game that feels like a horror movie, but not for graphic visuals or realistic foes. It uses the lack of light and the frantic pace of shooting and jumping to make it essential to tread carefully and make clever decisions.
