Play Overview
Motorstorm (2006) is a series of games started on the PlayStation 3 with innovative tracks that got muddier as you raced. This, along with a wide variety of vehicles and routes through each of the courses makes for an entertaining and light-hearted racing game. Whether racing in cars, bikes, all-terrain vehicles or super-massive trucks, the different courses have to be learned for each type and taken advantage of to win.
As the series developed it focus more on the extreme sports side of racing high-powered vehicles. This means that Motorstorm: Apocalypse and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is rated PEGI 16 rather than PEGI 12 like the original game.
Motorstorm: Apocalypse had its release delayed after Japan's devastating earthquake in 2011 because the game featured a similar scene that destructed the track. This led to mediocre sales and the game being something of a hidden gem.
Our examiner, Andy Robertson, first checked Motorstorm 4 years ago. It was re-examined by Jo Robertson and updated 10 months ago.
