Play Overview
My Friend Pedro (2019) is a running, jumping, and shooting game where you perform parkour stunts as you shoot enemies in super slow motion, at the behest of a sentient banana. It's a bizarre concept, where you're encouraged to creatively kill enemies with trick shots and quick reactions. It stands out for its intentionally over-the-top killing and the slow-motion soaking in the gruesome chaos.
You meet a sentient banana who commands you to obliterate everyone you meet in a journey of destruction. Play involves running, jumping, climbing, swinging, and sliding through the 2D levels, shooting at enemies. You can also use the environment to your advantage, such as frying pans that deflect bullets and barrels that can crush enemies or explode to deal maximum destruction. When you jump the game slows down to make shooting multiple enemies possible.
You steadily learn to use the level geometry and your guns to finesse your progress. The game constantly records the action and lets you turn it into gifs, letting you share your most outrageous and stylish kills with friends.
The result is a game that revels in the extreme, over-the-top deaths you dish out. There's a macabre enjoyment in experimenting with ever more creative and ambitious ways to destroy your enemies and look cool while you do it.
